It was a different room, but the same amazing ecstatic people delivering fabulous speeches!
Shailesh is visiting South Africa and attended the meeting – jumping in and filling the role of Grammarian – we were ecstatic to have you visiting us – Thank you!
Two other guests, Thato and Mzwa also could not wait to become fabulous toastmasters as they filled the roles of Timekeeper and Uhm counter respectively.
We were ecstatic when we saw Christian Nyakanyanga arrive at the meeting – Christian presented his contest speech and received an open evaluation. Well done Christian!
Table Topics Master was Linda van Deventer. After Linda gave a brief explanation of what table topics are and some ecstatic encouragement from fellow members, guest Stephanie Patmore was first to present. This is what Stephanie had to say about her first visit to a toastmasters meeting:
“I had a fantastic evening that surpassed any expectations or preconceived ideas that I had about what Toastmasters was all about. I haven’t laughed so much in ages and everyone was so full of life and welcoming.
It was an absolute privilege to listen to the calibre of prepared speeches that were shared, from the enlightening and emotive content to the hilarious humour and skilful use of the English language.
It was a wonderful learning experience showing how the use of words, language, voice, constructive feedback and many other techniques can improve communication and public speaking – which I intend to use not only in my corporate career but in my everyday life.
It was a really fun night spent with great people and I will definitely be back for the next meeting to present my first prepared speech and to join CIS Toastmasters going forward.”
